Starboy’s mother was pregnant with him when she fell from the sky to earth. She gave birth using the little energy she had left before she passed on. The animals nearby recognized that this baby had come from the stars and understood that he was sacred, so they had all agreed to come together to take care of him. Starboy grew quickly, nurtured by their care. Among the animals, the meadowlark and the magpie were the ones to teach him to speak Lakota, and this is how Starboy came to be.
